The Aegon Championships Voted ATP 500 Tournament of the Year

In its first year as an ATP-500 event, the Aegon Championships tournament has been voted ATP World Tour 500 Tournament of the Year.

“To win ATP World Tour 500 tournament of the year in our first year in the category is a huge thrill, a magnificent achievement, and a credit to our tournament team, The Queen’s Club, our sponsors – particularly Aegon, and our broadcast partners. We were up against some of the finest and most popular tournaments on the ATP World Tour, and I am immensely proud that our efforts have been recognised by the players in this way.”

 Stephen Farrow
Aegon Championships Tournament Director

Every year, The Queen’s Club is transformed to hold this world-class tennis tournament, with stands packed full of people to watch the greats battle it out for the top spot. Rod Laver, John McEnroe, Jimmy Connors, Boris Becker, Pete Sampras, Rafael Nadal and Andy Murray are just some of the names on the Roll of Honour. Last year, Murray won a record-equalling fourth title in 2015 with a victory over Kevin Anderson in the final.

“In its first year as an ATP World Tour 500 event, it’s a remarkable effort for the Aegon Championships to win this award. The tournament continues to go from strength to strength and this is a fitting recognition on behalf of the players for all the work that goes into the event. Many congratulations to the Aegon Championships team for this latest accolade.”

Chris Kermode
ATP Executive Chairman and President

The Aegon Championships offers world-class men’s tennis and a variety of innovative hospitality options delivered in style.
