Team GB Win first medals in rio 2016

Swimming came up trumps during the Rio 2016 Olympics as Adam Peaty and Jazz Carlin both won medals in their respected races. Adam won gold in the men’s 100m breaststroke setting a new world record. The 21-year-old was clear of any other competitors by 1.5 seconds, beating the world record set previously by himself during the semi-finals. Carlin took silver in the women’s 400m freestyle. The 25-year-old Welsh athlete came second behind USA’s Katie Ledecky, but defended her position to go on and beat America’s Leah Smith to finish second.

england come out on top after final day battle against Pakistan

With the series poised at one all the test at Edgbaston was all to play for. When Pakistan bowled England out for 297 and then went on to score 400, a lead of 103, it was not looking good for England. However, England came out with grit and determination to score an almighty 445-6 setting Pakistan a challenge of 343 to win. With a strong bowling attack England set about trying to bowl Pakistan out in 84 overs. After an initial resistance England managed to take Pakistan from 124–3 to 125-7 in a matter of 23 balls. England finished off the job with 13.1 overs left and won by and impressive 141 runs.

If the Edgbaston Test Match is anything to go by the Fourth Invest Test Match at Kia Oval starting on Thursday is not going to disappoint.

Jim Furyk shot a record breaking 58 at the Travelers Championship in Connecticut. The American had a total of 10 birdies and an eagle to produce a 12 under par 58. He was already one of six players to have hit a sub 60 score in a PGA championship round. Although despite shooting this record breaking score Furyk only managed to finish in fith place. Russell Knox won three shots ahead of Furyk and has put himself in contention for a Ryder Cup place later on in the year.

Manchester united win the fa community shield at wembley

Mourinho began his campaign as Manchester United manager with a win in the community shield. With the score set at 1 – 1 for the majority of the match, it was left to new signing Zlatan Ibrahimovic to head home the winner in the 83 minute, for Man United to go on to win 2 – 1 at full time. With the signing of Paul Pogba imminent Man United’s Premier League season is set to be an exciting one.
