England equal record of 14 consecutive wins with victory over Australia
Eddie Jones’ men completed a successful Old Mutual Wealth series campaign with their 37-21 win over Australia. The Wallabies gained a 16-13 lead at halftime through a well-worked try from Sefanaia Naivalu and two successfully kicked penalties. However England hit the ground running after the break with Marland Yarde, Ben Youngs and Jonathan Joseph all scoring superb tries to take England to their fourth win of the series and 14th win in a row equaling the all time record of an England rugby team.
joachim gerard beat gordon reid in masters final
Wimbledon and Paralympic champion Gordon Reid was defeated by Joachim in the NEC Wheelchair Tennis Masters in London at the Olympic Park. The Brit was beaten 4-6 6-4 6-4 by Gerard. It is not all bad for Reid as he ends the year as the men’s singles world No.1 and will look to equal his 2016 success of two grand slam wins in the new year.
vieux lion rouge wins gripping becher chase at aintree
Trained by David Pipe and ridden by Tom Scudamore the favorite pulled ahead after the last jump to take the win. 2015 winner Highland Lodge was edging for a back to back win but Vieux Lion Rouge proved too quick in the final stretch and was crowned champion.
sports personality of the year shortlist revealed
A list of 16 athletes has been named for those in contention of winning the SPOTY award. Some of the contenders include: Andy Murray, Jason Kenny, Laura Kenny, Danny Willet and many more. The winner will be revealed on the 18th December.
